W20 Presidencies
The Presidency of the W20 rotates each year along with the G20 Presidency and according to their rota. The timing of the start of each W20 Presidency is also dependent on the G20 timetable.
The Presidency for 2025 is South Africa and the formal handover from Brazil took place on December 17, 2024.
The previous year, current year and next year Presidencies form what is known as “The Troika”. The current Troika consists of Brazil, South Africa and USA. This allows a smooth transition of work from the previous Presidency (Brazil) to the current South African Presidency and then on to the USA for 2025.
In previous years a number of the Presidencies have had their own “in-Country” websites, while this year South Africa is leveraging the global W20 website, which will be the norm for future Presidencies. The relevant websites are listed below.
